Prof. Dr. Paul Knox and Cristiano Luchetti were our guests
Paul Knox, University Distinguished Professor of Virginia Tech and a prominent scholar of urban geography and Cristiano Luchetti who is an architect and Associate Professor at American University of Sharjah were the guests of international semiar series held by İzmir University of Economics in the 2019-2020 Fall semester.
Professor Knox, who gave a seminar on resilience of towns focusing on Cittaslow movement in October, is University Distinguished Professor, Dean of the Honors College and former Dean of the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech in the United States. He is a member of the editorial board of seven international journals and has served as Co-Editor of Environment and Planning A, Co-Editor of the Journal of Urban Affairs, and book review editor for Environment & Planning C: Government & Policy. He is a member of Cittaslow scientific committee.
In December that is the second session of the seminar series, Cristiano Luchetti gave a lecture titled "Dubai: The spectacular heterotopia". Luchetti is a registered architect with vast experience in leading the design of large scale projects in residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors in Europe, China, India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. He gained over 15 years of experience in teaching architecture for several European and North American Universities. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the American University of Sharjah, UAE, where he teaches architectural/urban design, professional practice, and drawing courses.
