SALT GALATA HOSTED IUE ARCHITECTURE SENIOR STUDENTS
The educational outcomes of the three thematic studios of the fourth-year architectural design studio (ARCH 401) , where architecture’s participation in the various dynamics that shape the world around us—technological, political, aesthetic, social are discussed, were reviewed at SALT GALATA under an interpretation of the semester's major theme: "flow."
Thematic presentations, along with examples of student work presented and discussed were intended to create a platform not only for debating these works, but also for problematizing the importance of the fourth-year studio within architectural design education. Presentations were held in two sessions presenting projects from three Units. In the sessions Sıla Bozdeveci and Ece Duran from Unite 1 presented their project of Time Regulation Institute, Elif Geylani and Burak Karakızlı from Unit 2 presented therapy centers located in Urla and finally Hande Kocabaş and Aycan Duman presented Izmir City Library projects to Nilüfer Kozikoğlu, Ertunç Hünkar, Defne Bozkurt, Can Sucuoğlu, Ozan Yeniay, Konca Saher, Tania Feldzer, Sema Alaçam ve Ethem Gürer, who are professional architects and scholars.
At the end of the day, architectural education at IUE and Turkey were discussed with guests and students by the moderation of Nilüfer Kozikoğlu.
