DIGITAL HUMANITIES LAB: RE-ANIMATION OF TEOS ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE EXHIBITION
The Digital Teos Project is the first step to formulate and establish the Digital Humanities Lab at İzmir University of Economics. This project is a collaboration between the Department of Archaeology at Ankara University and three distinct departments at the İzmir University of Economics: Architecture, Visual Communication Design, Software Engineering.
The Digital Teos project aims to create a digital 3D repository of archaeological, architectural, and cultural heritage of the city of Teos, situated in Sığacık, İzmir. With the archaeological data provided by the Teos Excavation, the 3D digital reconstructions of selected ancient buildings (theater, temple, harbour, cistern) were modeled and rendered by architectural students. These assets formed the basis for the ‘serious game’ being developed by game designers, graphic designers, and software engineers. This Virtual Reality (VR) experience and 3D Fabrication of the ancient buildings of Teos displays the preliminary results of the project.
