NAVIGATION ON THE FLUID GROUND WORKSHOP & GOOD DESIGN__3
In scope of Good Design__3, which was organized by İzmir Akdeniz Akademisi, Department of Architecture part-time instructors Ertunç Hünkar and Mehtap Altuğ held a workshop titled “Navigation on the Fluid Ground”. The outcome of the workshop was exhibited in the pool of Göl Gazinosu, Kültürpark.
Navigation on Fluid Ground, which was held in scope of Good Design__3, is a workshop held by Mehtap Altuğ and Ertunç Hünkar with 14 participants between October 13th and 18th; and based on experiencing the design and production process. During the workshop, the participants and coordinators followed a mutual design decision and implemented the design based on suggestions.
The design, which is located in Kültürpark, focuses on water surfaces –a relatively less portion compared to the Park’s. By means of these fluid surfaces, it was investigated how to experience the stable actions of the stable grounds on the water surface. The basis of this resultant research was computational design sessions conducted with the participants. Initially, the algorithmic modeling of the design was created in a digital environment by focusing on the ruled surfaces and following computational design methods. In the continuation, the digital geometry was experienced by corresponding the analog and digital calculations during the 1/1 scale construction. The advantages of this experiment, directly and indirectly, affected the wooden floating structure and the production of ruled surfaces.
