| Course Objectives | The second architectural design studio aims to enhance students' understanding of the relationships between a building, its site, and its users through a multifaceted examination of larger contextual and programmatic variables. It also seeks to improve students’ skills in resolving form, structure, and detailing. |

| Course Description | ARCH 202 centers on the theme of SHARED CONTEXT. In the second architectural design studio course, students will work toward a sophisticated resolution of spatial organization while simultaneously developing a response to a more complex program—specifically, one involving public (i.e., shared) engagement. Accordingly, the focus will be on architectural design as it relates to the user, site, and context, encompassing aesthetic, structural, functional, and environmental considerations. The studio incorporates analytical projects designed to cultivate contextual, environmental, and material awareness, thereby enhancing spatial comprehension. |
